Gutter monitoring for roof and facade

The solar-powered gutter sensor captures standing water, rainfall, moisture and temperature directly at the roof gutter. A developing blockage becomes visible before water seeps into the building fabric.

Your benefits

The gutter reports before the water stands still

A roof gutter does not fail overnight. It clogs up over weeks, and this is usually noticed only once water runs down the facade or seeps into the structure.

Fits any gutter

The mount is universal. The sensor can be fitted to every gutter type without modifying the gutter itself.

Solar-powered

The power supply runs independently on solar power. There is no battery to change on the roof, operation continues without interruption.

Wireless into the platform

Readings go via Narrowband IoT into the cloud-based Infrasolute data platform, which can be accessed remotely at any time.

Notification instead of a site walk

If defined thresholds are exceeded or a blockage is detected, the system reports it immediately. The countermeasure thus comes before the damage.

What is monitored

Four variables in one place

Only the interplay makes the result reliable. Rain alone says little, moisture alone too. Both together show whether the water is still draining.

Standing water
Water that stands in the gutter and downpipes instead of draining away.
Rainfall amount
How much rain has fallen and what effect that has on drainage.
Moisture status
The moisture condition of the gutter, from which an early blockage can be read.
Temperature
The temperature at the gutter, so frost damage can be avoided.

From installation to notification

  1. 01

    Attach the sensor

The sensor is mounted on the gutter with the universal fixing. No intervention on the gutter itself is required.

  2. 02

    Measure independently

The supply runs on solar power. The sensor records water level, rainfall, moisture and temperature during ongoing operation.

  3. 03

    Transmit wirelessly

Readings go via Narrowband IoT into the cloud-based data platform. Access is possible at any time and from anywhere.

  4. 04

    Report automatically

From the interplay of rainfall and moisture, the system detects a blockage and alerts when a threshold is exceeded.

In use

The sensor on the gutter

The device sits outside on the gutter, on a bracket that fits every gutter type. The solar module faces forward, the antenna points up. Nothing is left on the gutter itself to further obstruct drainage.

The condition of the gutter thereby becomes visible remotely, permanently, not only during a site walk in spring and autumn.

Pilot phase

We are looking for partners for the test phase

The gutter sensor is currently in the prototype phase. We are looking for partners who want to test this technology in their own portfolio. If you are interested in a non-binding test installation, get in touch.

  • Non-binding test installation at one of your properties
  • Direct line to development, your feedback feeds in
  • Access to the readings via the Infrasolute data platform

Typical use cases

Where a glance into the gutter is time-consuming

The harder the gutter is to reach, the less often someone looks inside, and the longer a blockage stays unnoticed.

  • Buildings where the gutter is accessible only with a lift or scaffold
  • Roofs under trees where leaves collect regularly
  • Properties with many similar buildings and a fixed maintenance cycle
  • Structures where moisture in the facade has been an issue before
  • Sites where frost in the gutter repeatedly causes damage

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about gutter monitoring

What exactly does the gutter sensor measure?
Four variables at once: standing water in the gutter and downpipes, the amount of rainfall and its effect on drainage, the moisture status of the gutter for early detection of blockages, and the temperature to prevent frost damage.
How does the system recognise a blockage?
From the combination of rainfall measurement and moisture monitoring. If rain falls without the expected course developing in the gutter, that is the indicator. The system reports it before standing water becomes a risk to the building fabric.
Does the sensor fit every roof gutter?
The mount is universal and fits every gutter type. Nothing needs to be modified on the gutter itself.
Does the battery need to be changed?
No. The gutter sensor works independently on solar power. On a roof in particular this is the decisive point, because every battery change there means access with a ladder, scaffold or lift.
How do I access the readings?
Via the cloud-based Infrasolute data platform, at any time and from anywhere. In addition, the system automatically triggers a notification when the stored thresholds are exceeded and when a blockage is detected.
Is the gutter sensor available yet?
The sensor is in the prototype phase. We are looking for partners who want to test the technology in their own portfolio. A non-binding test installation can be arranged in conversation.
